The Green Men

The Green Men

Most of the cathedral’s Green Men are on the carved fourteenth century capitals in the choir which also show the Labours of the months as well as birds, animals and fauna. A wooden ceiling boss of the same period is to be found in the Treasury. There are two more wooden bosses in the present ceiling and another stone carving high up on a capital of a pillar supporting the roof. A more modern representation is above the South door which is dated 1852.
