The Education Centre is situated on the ground and second floor of the Prior’s Tower, in the Abbey grounds. This is a dedicated educational resource, looked after by an experienced Education Officer who is responsible for school visits.
It is our objective to bring the Cathedral and the way of life of the monks who lived here to life for our younger visitors, and to help them understand the role of the Cathedral in the wider church and community.
On the top floor of the Prior’s Tower is also a display of dolls dressed in costumes of Kings and Queens of England from Norman times to the present day. This display is available for the Education Officer to take out to talk to groups and parishes who are interested in exploring the history of the nation through its monarchy.
