Carlisle Cathedral Development Trust has been established since 1993 to assist in the fundraising for the development of the Cathedral's life and worship, the improvement of its facilities and the maintenance and restoration of the Cathedral and Abbey buildings.

Projects that the Trust has been able to support include extensive masonry repairs to the Cathedral, roof repairs, re-ordering of the Regimental Chapel in the nave and the provision of new chairs in the Cathedral. Within The Abbey, major restoration work has been carried out to the Prior Slee Gatehouse and the Prior's Tower.

However, much remains to be done. Future projects include a new lighting scheme and essential repair work to the statues and niches of the east end of the Cathedral.
