For those seeking somewhere special for their meetings, conferences or exhibitions, The Abbey (Carlisle Cathedral Close) with its medieval buildings, provides a quiet and atmospheric setting in the heart of the City.

The Fratry
This is a former monastic dining room dating originally from the 13th century and rebuilt in the 15th century. It now offers accommodation in outstanding surroundings for exhibitions (163 square metres of floor space), meetings (seating 100 theatre-style) and other events.

The Prior's Room
The Prior's Room is situated in the Prior's Tower, dating from about 1500. Of special interest is the magnificent ceiling of 45 hand painted panels dating from 1510. The room seats 25 theatre-style.
The Prior's Kitchen
This is the Cathedral's Restaurant, situated in the stone-vaulted undercroft of the Fratry. It is available in the evenings for special functions and seats 74.
