Cathedral Choirs Association

Carlisle Cathedral Choirs Association

There are five choirs at Carlisle Cathedral that are not only maintaining the English choral tradition that has continued for at least 500 years but are also taking music into the wider community. These choirs are the Boys’ Choir, the Girls’ Choir, the Senior Girls’ Choir, the Carliol Choir (the Cathedral’s voluntary choir) and Carlisle Cantate (the children’s community choir). The Cathedral Choirs Association unites the members and former members of all these choirs and their families as well as all those who share an interest in Cathedral music. The Association aims to provide support and encouragement to the Cathedral Choirs, and in particular our young people, to expand their horizons, and to advance their education by developing their musical knowledge and training through singing services in the Cathedral, performing concerts, recording CDs and undertaking choir visits and tours both locally and abroad. To this end the Association conducts fund raising and arranges social events.
